What is Astrology?

What is Astrology? Astrology describes our potential, not our fate. It deals with patterns prevailing in our lives, it interprets our life events/personality traits/ and individual realities. Astrology is the study of the planets and how they influence the lives of people. Numerology and Astrology are very similar. The difference is, in Numerology, the hidden meaning behind the numbers are looked at the same way.

People have looked to the heavens and the planets for guidance for thousands of years. Dating all the way back to ancient Mesopotamia (2300 BC), perhaps as early as 600 BC when astrology began making its way into ancient Greece.

Astrology uses a birth chart to map the positions of the planets relative to the location and moment of birth. The interpretation of the chart incorporates the angular relationships between the planets and the signs of the zodiac, the area of the chart in which they fall and other symbolic indicators to examine the different experiences and psychology of the individual. An astrologer then analyzes the pertinent information, exploring how the various aspects of the client's personality may be integrated and finding ways to draw the greatest fulfillment from the energies symbolized in the chart.

Most people are only aware of their Sun sign. But there is so much more to your astrological profile than your Sun Sign. Did you know that you also have a Moon sign which represents your emotions? And also a sign that was rising at the time of your birth? That is called the Ascendant. Your Ascendant is how you appear on the outside. For instance your Sun sign may be a Leo but you appear to carry the traits of a Capricorn, then its likely that Capricorn is your Ascendant. We also have a Karmic Sign (the sign that Saturn fell in during the time of your birth), a Power Sign (the sign that Pluto fell in during the time of your birth), a Spiritual Sign (the sign that Neptune fell in during the time of your birth) and so on.

The birth chart is made up of 12 houses, 12 aspects of your life and every sign happens to "own" each house. Your Ascendant happens to sit at the cusp of your first house. Planets however move through these houses. You can think of them as "renting". The planets give you an idea of how you are going to experience a particular aspect of your life, or if its happening right now.
